New Life Fellowship started with humble beginnings as “Hilltop Full Gospel Church” in February, 1957 under the leadership of Pastor Leona Mitchell whose husband, Rev. Forest Mitchell, was tragically killed in an automobile accident. The Bloomington Pantagraph reported, “Today, though the energetic efforts of a small group of people, the ‘Little Brick Schoolhouse’ on West Washington is starting NEW LIFE,” printed February 16, 1958.
The title of that newspaper article was, “STARTS NEW LIFE.” How ironic…or perhaps, divine that, 40 years later God, in His providence, would lead us as a congregation to call ourselves “New Life Fellowship?!”
“God is always at work – inviting ordinary people like us to join Him in that work. As a church our greatest desire is to help people discover a real, life-changing relationship with the God of the Bible, find where He is working, and ultimately join Him in that work…all the while becoming more passionate about our walk with Him.”
