Why Study Our Jewish Heritage?
The Christian Church has lost much of the rich heritage that is intrinsically Jewish. To take Yeshua out of His Jewish context leaves us searching for clues regarding events in His life.
For example, the hem of Yeshua’s garment that the woman touched in Matthew 9:20 was the tzitzit required by the Torah in Numbers 15:37-41. Go here for a thorough explanation of this passage from the Hebraic perspective: The Hem of the Garment (This link goes outside this site, use browser “back” button to return here).
Another passage many puzzle over is found in John 8:2-11, concerning the woman who was caught in adultery. Knowing the Jewish context can help in our understanding of these verses. Here is the story, as recorded in John 8:2-11, and the Jewish context.
Why did Jesus forgive the woman in John 8?
